QUALITY ASSURANCE /SERVICE INSPECTIONS

Available to semi-independent living service providers

The quality assurance service is designed to establish a list of providers who have gone through a detailed inspection in the same vein as the regulation 44 inspection required in the OFSTED registered provider conditions. This service is available to unregulated semi-independent living providers who wish to demonstrate competency and high standards bridging the gap between an unregulated provider and an OFSTED regulated provision.

The quality assurance inspectors act as independent assessors and are qualified and experienced in completing OFSTED Reg 44 inspections and grading reports. This Is what is required to qualify for the assured member status.
This includes the following:

  • Inspection site visit: An annual inspection (every 12 months). This can take up to 2 hours and can be an announced or unannounced visit. The inspection can take place between 9 am - 8 pm. The process includes a minimum of 2 different home visits for providers running multiple homes.

  • Inspection Report: Following the site inspection, there will be interviews with staff, other stakeholders, and the service users, a full report will be provided within 5 working days. The report will identify areas of strengths and those that need to be improved. The reports are pretty much a mini regulation audit. The accommodation side of the report will mainly focus on health and safety (fire, harmful hazards, etc); staff’s familiarity with service policies and procedures; cleanliness and hygiene standards of the unit; HR compliance.

  • Members who achieve the 80% pass mark will be offered the SCA quality assured badge of standards and will immediately benefit as we will actively market and promote their services to commissioning authorities, thus increasing their chances to receive more placement packages.

Scoring an 80% score mark qualifies the supplier to the quality assured member status Which earns you a place on the quality assured list we send out to our local authority placement teams list each month. The list works off a platform that works like a robust directory featuring the accommodation videos and images alongside your SOP and local area assessment documents. This is possibly the most effective means of marketing your service as the feedback from a number of local authority children service departments see this as a measure to access unregulated (SIL) providers who are deemed fit for purpose with a recognised badge of standards as expected.  Qualified quality assured members are expected to renew this status each year by completing the inspection once again.

Aside from attempts to qualify as a quality assured member status, forward-thinking care providers are increasingly seeing the benefits of this form of self–assessment. It is an effective measure to ensure staff and management run their units professionally with compliance and high standards consistently practised. Our Quality Assurance (QA) process makes sure staff are up to speed with high-quality care and are completely familiar with the policies and procedures in terms of actual application to everyday care, as we conduct a proficiency test with all the staff. The quality assurance process works to the same principles of an OFSTED  inspection visit.
